Quarter Finals are over with the last showing of Ambassadors for the season happening on Saturday June 27.  Just as expected the MC ended the last quarter final by inviting patrons to take in the semi finals at the Phoenix in Vieux Fort.  Apparently, the new boss at the CDF has decided that it is important to take carnival activities out of Castries and his first attempt to do so is to have the semi finals in Vieux Fort this year.  And of course that is causing an uproar because some people do not want to go to 'the country' to a semi finals.

What country?  I apologize in advance because that happens to be one of my few pet peevs and I am about to go on a bit of a rant.  What country?  I live in one country called Saint Lucia.  Vieux is not a country, never has been and never will be.  It is just one other community in the country Saint Lucia.   What is the big deal with going to Vieux Fort for a semi final.

 I admit it is a bit of a pain in the butt to take a forty five minute drive.  That means I cannot leave home at 8:25 for an 8:30 show and hope to be there only five minutes late.  Nope, I have to leave at least an hour earlier.  It also means that having my tank on e for enough is not ok.  I would need to have a little more to make it comfortably to Vieux Fort and back.  So what?  I have had on occasion to do that before.

What country?  Semi finals is in Vieux Fort.  It is not out of the country so gas up your car, do a quick drive by the ATM, check a pardner and just go.  As for me, let me go and call my moms and tell her  to spruce up my old room for me.  There is no way I am driving all the way to Vieux Fort and back on a Friday night.  No siree.  I chilling down there after the show, in my country.  You can call me if you are stranded.  I will refer you to a good guest house.
